Love Will Find Out the Way

Susan walked along the seashore, feeling the cool waves wash gently over her feet.  The sun was setting and all seemed peaceful, but inside her a storm raged on.  She was sick to death over the disappearance of her lover.  His ship had been lost at sea and now, she spent her days wandering the seashore, looking for a glimpse of the man who would never return.

The sun was setting and Susan was about to turn back when suddenly, she heard a sound above the crashing of the waves.  "Suuuuuuuuuuuusaaaaaaaaaaaan."  She thought it sounded like someone was calling her name, but she could not be sure until she had heard it again.  "Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan."  Yes, she was certain now that someone had called her name.  She listened as the voice called again, and this time she recognized it.

"Eric!" she cried.  It was the voice of her lover, lost at sea months ago.  Tears rolled down her cheeks.  "Eric, I'm here!  Where are you?"

"Suuuuuuuuuuuusaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan."  She suddenly spotted a figure rising out the ocean, far off in the distance.  It was small and dark against the sky, but it was definitely a man, and he was getting closer.

"Eric!  You've come back!  I knew you would!"  Her heart beat faster than a speeding steam train. She was dizzy with excitement.  A moment later, her body gave out beneath her and she fell upon the sand in a dead faint.

Moments later, she began to stir.  Slowly, the memory of the previous minutes came back to her.  She opened her eyes.  She screamed.

Staring down at her was a skull from which half the flesh had rotted.   Slimy bits of seaweed hung from its eye sockets.  It's black dead lips flapped gruesomely as, once again, it hissed, "Suuuuuuuuuuuuusaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan."
